Thanks to the 25 volunteers who contributed 75 volunteer hours to plant 8 trees on the Goleta Valley Junior High campus on Saturday morning, August 22nd. The 12 foot tall native white alders were grown on the Devereux campus by Goleta Valley Beautiful volunteers, and they will provide excellent shade in the playing fields next to the basketball courts.
Volunteer groups participating included the Santa Barbara Youth Football League Senior Chargers, UCSB students, and GVB community volunteers. This event was sponsored by support from California ReLeaf Tree Planting Grant 2008, the Santa Barbara Secondary School District, the Santa Barbara Foundation, UCSB Coastal Fund, Devereux of California and hundreds of GVB donor members.
Please check the Goleta Valley Beautiful website for weekly Saturday morning and afternoon volunteer opportunities, or to make an online membership donation at http://www.goletavalleybeautiful.org.
